The future once appeared farther and sweeter
With its beaming, redolent domain
Became the present, coming nearer and nearer
It began to teach life’s harsh terrain
I once had dreams like birds for spring
Much as I wish to realize them in the realm of facts
I found them shattered in the cruel ring
And replaced by bitter realities of its wild acts
Sweet fruits appeared on the branches for sure
I dreamed of tasting their sweetness to the core;
I thought some storm would make them fall before my door
The day came but I found them sour.
