SRI RAMA'S LEGACIES

For all man's welfare
God was born as man, Sri Rama
On earth, all turned his fanfare,
He filled joys in human panorama
All righteous and judicious
A rare model for human relations
All magnanimous and gracious
With all for cordial concerns
All loved him for his virtues
He proved cent-percent perfect
With the embodiment of values
In all, his high ideals an effect
Most lovable most to his father,
Whose words, he disobeyed never
He served his aunts and mother
Even the aunt, the cause for his exile
He loved his brothers as hearts
He treated the people as gods to bless
He revered sages in teaching arts
Father's words led him for their success
Ministers, messengers, small to tall,
His near and dear only for love-word,
Loved all and was loved by all
He came to their rescue as their guard
He was their king, relentless ruler
Even demons when they were flawless
In rescue in his safe royal parlor
For human relations in peace limitless
His legacies for peace and harmony
All to live for human concerns
Scarce in the age of rat race for money
Of all means for power-relations

THE BOND OF LOVE

Strong is the bond of love to dwell in hearts,
Lovers, true turn to be one, one in two,
Like two wheels to help the moving of carts;
Love like the sky, the wide expanse of blue,
Spreads sans walls like the perfume of flowers,
For the pleasures of love-adorers true;
The power of love dawns from chaste lovers
Like flowers to sweeten the atmosphere;
Neither of them away from love-bowers;
Love like earth, hemisphere plus hemisphere
For love in bloom, the verdant growth of lives,
There is no earth sans love in every sphere,
Love is like honey in store in beehives!

SCULPTURES FOR RAPTURES

Ramappa sculptures are lively treasures,
Like the setting in spring with all flowers,
Art-feast of aesthetic eyes for pleasures,
All pervasive feel of festive fervors,
Skills uncanny, carvings quintessential,
Gem in the galaxy of Deccan shrines,
True to life in the art of the chisel,
Engineering wonder, preferential, Art, music and dance designs in signs,
Kakatiya kings built it to excel.
Sculptors are not alive; sculptures, alive
Although the jealous misshaped the carvings,
Although made them to the pieces archive,
Why do invaders spoil in false cravings?
What delight do they derive in spoilsports?
Despite their worst efforts, arts are in shines;
Life lives ephemeral, art lives eternal;
In dazzles of the polished dolerite;
The rulers worshiped the art in their reigns;
Dancers like Nagini seem supernal;
What sculpture else is my most favourite!
Art in life sculptors in dexterity,
The rich carvings of legendary tales;
The grace of dance, music in variety,
Youthful bosom, bodyline, all in hails,
All like Samudra Manthana, the scene,
Makara-torana, leaves on shrine-door;
Nandi in the sitting posture, life full,
With its eyes in life-glow, veins in flow keen,
Majestic, graceful, comely to the core,
All viewers are in their magnetic pull.
All specialized and splendid are sculptures,
To visit it, revisit it, art fest,
A pleasant host to offer full raptures,
In varied shades, emotions manifest,
Sculptures move in art as sermons in stones,
A treasure trove of lessons on the arts,
Figures shine to attract more than real,
Songs of minstrel echo sweeter in tones,
